In line with the 5-Focused Agenda of Chief PNP, Police General Benjamin C. Acorda, Jr. for a better and more effective police force, the Hermosa MPS, Bataan PPO, and PRO3 joined forces with various government agencies, private sector partners, and local community members to conduct a tree planting activity in observance of Philippine Arbor Day 2023 on Thursday, June 29, 2023.
The activity, organized by LGU Hermosa was spearheaded by Municipal Mayor Antonio Joseph “Jopet” R. Inton and MENRO led by Jesus V. De Luna, aimed to plant 500 seedlings at Sitio Lumbang, Brgy. Mabiga, Hermosa. The activity also promotes awareness, support and cooperation for the government programs that advocate environmental protection and conservation of natural resources.
The Tree Planting Activity was led by Police Major Ernesto Esguerra, Acting Chief of Police of Hermosa MPS with 8 other personnel namely PEMS Xyrus V Elimansil, PSSg Rio A Talioaga, PSSg Sheila Marie J. Beren, PSSg Franklin C Añonuevo, PSSg Edizon C Dizon, PSSg Oscar C Jaring, Jr., PSSg James Ronald Andrew N Villegas, and PSSg Ryan Jay R Jaring together with 1st PMFC Bataan PPO, MEO, MDRRMO, MPDO, Sangguniang Bayan, Hermosa Water District, Hermosa BFP, Hermosa DepEd, PGENRO, DENR Cenro, Bounty Fresh Inc., Asian Ventures, Philippine Blue Corporation, Brgy. Mabiga led by Hon. Punong Barangay Roberto L Rosel, Tau Gamma Phi-Hermosa, Yokowo Manufacturing Inc. and Philippine Coast Guard (HSG).
Major Esguerra said the tree planting activity is a manifestation of their commitment to serve not only the people but also the environment. He said that they are grateful for the opportunity to participate in such a meaningful endeavor that would benefit the present and future generations.
Mayor Inton also expressed his appreciation for the collaboration and support of all the stakeholders involved in the activity. He said that he hoped that the tree planting activity would inspire more people to take action and care for the environment.
Philippine Arbor Day is an annual event that encourages Filipinos to plant trees in designated areas such as forest lands, mangrove and protected areas, ancestral domains, civil and military reservations, urban areas under greening plans of local government units and other suitable lands. It was first celebrated on June 25, 2003 by virtue of Proclamation No. 396 signed by then President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
